Being classified as a public figure on We Vote (as opposed to being classified as a private citizen) has the benefit of having your public opinions visible to all visitors, even prior to them following you. Please contact We Vote support if you meet any of the following minimum criteria for being considered a public figure by We Vote:
- You are or were a candidate for any office, past or present
- You are a reporters for a news outlet with readership greater than 10,000
- You have over 1,000 followers on any one of these sites: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram
- You are a senior manager of an organization that endorses candidates or measures
- One of your candidate or measure endorsements is highlighted, among fewer than 10 individuals, in a:
- Retweet with statement by candidate
- Public statement by candidate
- Article in a news outlet with readership greater than 10,000
- Interview with candidate
- Political ad paid for by a candidate
The following is not sufficient criteria for being considered a public figure:
- Being on candidate’s endorsement list on their website
